How does the term graphicity relate to the pedagogy of multiliteracies of available designs, designing and the redesigned? In an online course I am taking, I found this very helpful in understanding how designing works in an academic sense. I believe that when we use a graphic in higher education, it has to be done purposefully and meaningfully. We need to claim power to graphics as supplementing and supporting text. It is important that I situate myself as one who supports literacies but I do not discount the importance of traditional reading and writing. I am interested in seeing how literacies will change higher education and academia.
